Meta plans 7,000-km Petal subsea cable between US and France

Meta announced Petal, a 7,000-kilometer subsea cable linking the U.S. and France with a designed capacity of 1 petabit per second. The cable is expected to enter service in 2029 and uses two optical cores per fiber strand to double capacity per fiber without a proportional rise in power use.
