OpenAI GPT-6 Astra reconstructs CAD geometry from photos

OpenAI released GPT-6 Astra, which reconstructs a 3D object as editable CAD code rather than a static mesh from a handful of photos. On the BenchCAD benchmark it scored 95.9% mean voxel IoU, up from 83.3% for GPT-5.6 Sol and ahead of 84.3% for Anthropic's Claude Fable 5.1, at roughly 43% and 86% lower estimated API cost respectively.
