Microsoft: September Windows updates break File History backups
Microsoft warned that the built-in File History backup feature may stop creating or updating backups after the September 2026 security updates. Affected systems show FileHistory.exe and KERNELBASE.dll crashes in Event Viewer and false "Reconnect your drive" prompts.
