Samsung has a team working on robots for semiconductor manufacturing

Samsung has formed an AX/PI unit within its Global Manufacturing & Infra Technology division to develop and deploy robots in chip fabs. The first automation target is equipment maintenance, currently performed by engineers and contractors; development is at an early stage.

• AX stands for AI transformation, PI for process innovation
• First target is automating equipment maintenance in fabs
• Samsung may sell automation solutions to other chipmakers
