Cancer's Antioxidant Shield Helps Tumors Escape Immune System
Scientists at Cambridge and OHSU found tumors release the antioxidant protein PRDX1, depriving T cells of reactive oxygen species needed for activation. Blocking PRDX1 in mice strengthened the immune response and improved immunotherapy efficacy.
