BYD unveils 49-ton electric tractor with 1,000-hp peak power, fast charging

BYD showcased a line of electric commercial vehicles for Europe at IAA Transportation 2026 in Hannover. The flagship is the ETT 44 tractor with a 651 kWh Blade battery, up to 600 km range, and 20–80% charging in about 20 minutes at 1.5 MW.

• ETT 44 tractor designed for road trains up to 48.5 tons
• 651 kWh battery on 851 V architecture, peak power about 986 hp
• Range up to 600 km, CCS2 420 kW charging 20–80% in an hour
• Battery warranty 10 years or about 1.2 million km
