Kenya names consortium for Kipini spaceport feasibility study
Kenya's space agency selected a consortium of Salience Consulting, SpaceDreamS and Gauff Consultants Africa to run the feasibility study for the Kipini commercial spaceport. The near-equatorial site (about 2°S) offers a payload advantage, while demand grows as SpaceX's Falcon 9 rideshare manifest past 2028 closes to new bookings.
- Salience Consulting leads the consortium, SpaceDreamS handles technical work, Gauff covers infrastructure
- Kipini sits at about 2°S, closer to the equator than Kourou at 5.3°N
- Earth's rotation at the equator provides roughly 460 m/s of free velocity
- Commercial Falcon 9 rideshare bookings past 2028 are closing to new reservations
