Zipline rolls out sound-optimized dynamic flying across its drone fleet
Zipline has deployed sound-optimized dynamic flying across its entire delivery drone fleet, adjusting speed, altitude and trajectory using real-time wind data and an acoustics model. The company claims a 68% reduction in sound exposure per flight and 24% lower peak noise versus its 2025 fleet.
- Sound exposure per flight cut 68%, peak noise down 24%
- Average flight time shortened by 53 seconds, energy use down 21%
- Drones spend about 50% longer cruising on their wings
- Figures come from Zipline's internal modeling, not independent measurements
