Claude Code adds env var to skip file-deletion guardrails
Anthropic's Claude Code v2.1.311 supports the CLAUDE_CODE_EVEN_MORE_DANGEROUSLY_SKIP_PERMISSIONS environment variable, which lets the agent run rm and rmdir without approval. Those commands were previously blocked even in bypassPermissions mode.
- CLAUDE_CODE_EVEN_MORE_DANGEROUSLY_SKIP_PERMISSIONS=1 removes the last block on rm and rmdir
- The change shipped in Claude Code v2.1.311 and is absent from its changelog
- bypassPermissions mode has existed since v1.0.18 on June 9, 2025
- Anthropic staffer Daisy Hollman confirmed the variable is real, not a joke
