US Army commits up to $40M to Idaho tungsten mining study

The US Army awarded Perpetua Resources a 36-month contract worth up to $40 million to assess tungsten production at Idaho's historic Stibnite Mining District. With cost-sharing, joint investment could reach $80 million, and the first 18-month phase is expected to cost about $18 million. The US has had no commercial tungsten mining since 2015.
