MicroNuclear designs 20 MW molten salt nuclear battery for 10-year refuel interval

MicroNuclear has begun detailed design of a 20 MW thermal molten salt reactor, MsNB, with the Idaho National Laboratory Foundation, EXP, Premier Technology and Porter House. The unit is designed for 10 years of operation without refueling and uses natural circulation instead of pumps.

• Reactor power is 20 MW thermal, refueling interval is 10 years
• Cooling relies on natural circulation, no pumps

• Testing will take place at INL or other US Energy Department labs
