Microsoft clarifies Surface Laptop Ultra display specs after local dimming concerns

Microsoft confirmed the Surface Laptop Ultra's Mini LED display does support local dimming, with 5,400 LEDs across 1,344 zones. The clarification follows a Notebookcheck review claiming the panel had no local dimming at all. Microsoft says the feature works best with HDR off, content-based brightness enabled, and the Enhanced display profile set.

• Notebookcheck had claimed the panel lacked local dimming entirely
• Local dimming works best with HDR off and Enhanced profile enabled
• Zone count is well below MacBook Pro, causing blooming and ghosting
