Siemens and Nvidia train optical inspection before the first board is built
Siemens and Nvidia announced on October 21, 2026 a collaboration that uses a digital twin and Nvidia Cosmos synthetic defect images to prepare automated optical inspection before the first physical circuit board exists. Targets include up to 85% less manual engineering, 40% fewer false calls and a first-pass yield gain above 5%.
- Pilot runs at the Siemens Electronics Factory in Erlangen, Germany
- Cosmos generates photorealistic images of good and defective boards
- Targets: 40% fewer false calls and over 5% higher first-pass yield
- Applicability to additive manufacturing remains unproven
