Physicists propose boosting qubit photon absorption from 54% to 100%
Researchers at TU Wien proposed reshaping photon pulses via dispersion-engineered optical waveguides to improve transfer between qubits. Simulations suggest ideal absorption could reach 100%, up from about 54% with conventional methods. The passive approach has not yet been demonstrated experimentally.
- Conventional qubit photon absorption succeeds only about 54% of the time
- Method relies on time-reversal symmetry and controlled waveguide dispersion
- Simulations indicate 100% absorption under ideal conditions
- No experimental demonstration yet
