Chinese scientists entangle 13 photonic qubits without destroying photons
Researchers at Tsinghua University used a superconducting circuit to fuse small entangled groups of microwave photons into a larger programmable network without destroying them. The approach relies on quantum nondemolition measurement and achieved genuine entanglement across 13 photonic qubits. The study was published in Nature Physics.
- Genuine multipartite entanglement demonstrated across 13 photonic qubits
- Fusion uses quantum nondemolition measurement that preserves photons
- Frequency tuning makes the fusion process programmable
- System still needs better accuracy, photon generation and detectors
