Xiaomi details 21-DoF bionic hand built on 1,827 factory procedures

Xiaomi has disclosed progress on a 21-DoF bionic hand for factory work, with 26 motors and 1,500 tactile sensing points. The design is based on 1,827 recorded procedures from its EV pilot production centre; no pricing or launch date was announced.

• 21 DoF chosen as the balance point, with 15–38% higher grasp success than 6–15 DoF versions
• 26 motors total, five direct-drive; tendon motors sit in the forearm
• Palm weighs 324 g; 1,500 sensing points at 1–2 mm resolution
