NUS researchers weave a working touchscreen into a fabric sleeve
Researchers at the National University of Singapore built a touchscreen sleeve from 54 electronic fibers, each carrying 96 LEDs. The roughly 6.6-by-4.1-inch display bends around the forearm and survived 50 detergent washes and 1,000 bends.
- 54 fibers with 96 LEDs each form a 96×54-pixel display
- Video plays at 30 fps, dropping to 25 fps with audio
- Brightness and touch response barely changed after 50 washes and 1,000 bends
- No price or release date; the prototype remains a lab garment
