HKUST silver additive lifts lithium battery to 467 Wh/kg
A team at HKUST led by Professor Shao Minhua developed an anode-free lithium metal battery using a silver-ion AMI additive. The pouch cell reached 467 Wh/kg, and the coin cell retained 90% of capacity after 200 cycles. The study was published in Nature Communications.
- Pouch cell reached 467 Wh/kg energy density
- Coin cell kept 90% capacity after 200 cycles
- Silver-ion AMI additive modifies the copper current collector and stabilizes the SEI
- Quasi-solid gel in the electrolyte suppresses dendrite growth
