Microsoft Teams to let third-party bots scan meetings for deepfakes in November
Starting mid-November 2026, Teams on desktop, Mac and web will support certified third-party tools that analyze meeting audio and video for synthetic media. The provider performs detection while Teams surfaces alerts; Microsoft has not named vendors, licensing terms or what meeting data they receive.
- Rollout begins in Targeted Release between mid- and late November 2026
- Detection bots need Calls.ReportSyntheticMedia.All and report at most once per minute per participant
- Alerts with a 0.0–1.0 confidence score and severity reach all participants via roster updates
- Mobile platforms are not listed, unlike Teams' separate impersonation warnings
