Bisphenol mixture disrupts development of human breast tissue models
Researchers at Tufts and Boston University exposed organoids grown from breast tissue of 13 healthy women to BPA, BPS and BPF. Individually the chemicals caused few changes, but a low-dose mixture disrupted development and left an epigenetic pattern resembling invasive lobular carcinoma data.
- Organoids were grown from breast tissue of 13 healthy young women
- Low-dose BPA, BPS and BPF mixture disrupted most donor samples
- The epigenetic pattern matched invasive lobular carcinoma data
- The study was published in PNAS on October 15, 2026
