Microsoft fixes Windows 11 AC-3 audio crashes with October update

Update KB5127648 resolves Dolby Digital AC-3 decoding crashes in Windows 11 24H2, 25H2 and 26H2. The bug was introduced by the optional KB5124010 preview update from September 22 and caused games and apps relying on the built-in decoder to crash or fail to launch.

• KB5127648 shipped on October 13 as part of Patch Tuesday
• The issue originated with KB5124010 from September 22
• Windows 11 24H2, 25H2 and 26H2 were affected
• The patch also fixed mouse stutter in games and Explorer black screens
