Mixx Technologies builds fully optical scale-up networks for AI racks
Photonics startup Mixx Technologies has unveiled a 64-fiber SxC connector and plans a near-packaged optics module in 2028–2029, with co-packaged optics to follow by the end of the decade. The company aims to replace copper links in Nvidia NVLink racks and raise per-accelerator port counts.
- SxC connector packs 64 fibers, up to 1,000 fibers in 800 mm²
- First NPO module targeted for 2028–2029, CPO by end of decade
- An NVL576 rack would need about 20,736 fiber pairs without multiplexing
- At 400 Gbps copper signals travel no more than 1.25 meters
