Benchmark of 24 proxy clients finds over 40x gap in speed and energy use

An independent test on a MacBook Air M1 and iPhone 11 Pro compared 24 proxy client apps using the same Shadowsocks 2022 profile. Throne 1.4.0-beta.3 led with 16.9 Gbit/s and 0.29 J per GB, while the slowest apps stayed under 0.7 Gbit/s and used 7–15 J per GB. On iPhone, Egern 2.20.0 was the most efficient and Anywhere 2.4 the fastest.
