Universal Music licenses catalog to AI gaming music service TYGER
Universal Music Group has become the first major music company to license its recordings and songs to TYGER, a service that uses AI to adapt music to on-screen gameplay in real time. UMG's catalog will join TYGER's paid subscription, with some tracks also on its ad-supported free tier; the service plans to relaunch later this year.
- TYGER runs alongside games on PC, console and mobile, so studios don't have to build it in
- The closed beta spans more than 20 games with over 540 million monthly players
- Its library holds more than 400,000 songs, mostly from independent artists
- The relaunch with UMG's catalog is planned for later this year
