Two of Japan's oldest mobile games shut down permanently over PHP exploit

A critical PHP vulnerability has forced two of Japan's oldest mobile games offline for good: World Quest, launched on GREE in 2011, and text-based RPG Save My Demonic World. Their aging systems cannot be updated to patch the exploit, which allows code execution on affected sites.

• World Quest launched on GREE in 2011 and was revived in 2020 on the same code
• Save My Demonic World stopped receiving updates two years ago
• The PHP exploit affects roughly 70% of the internet
• Both games are permanently closed as their old systems can't be patched
