Virgin Media O2 demos Starlink satellite coverage in remote north Wales

Virgin Media O2 demonstrated its O2 Satellite service, powered by Starlink, in remote parts of Snowdonia where terrestrial coverage is absent. The £3-a-month service delivers roughly 4Mbps over a shared 5MHz band in the 1,800MHz range and lifts UK coverage from 89% to 95% of the population.

• Service costs £3 a month and activates only outside cellular coverage
• Speeds reach about 4Mbps per spot beam, with roughly 50 beams per satellite
• UK coverage rises from 89% to 95% of the population
• A second version promises 20–100 times more capacity
