GitHub Next unveils PDD Kit to formally verify agent-written Rust code
GitHub Next and Microsoft Research released a research preview of the Proof-Driven Development Kit: a human approves a formal spec written in Verus, and a verifier proves the agent-generated code satisfies it for every input. The kit works only with Rust and falls back to tests where full proofs are impossible.
- Rust only: specs are written in the open-source Verus proof language
- Humans review the specification instead of every line of the agent's diff
- Built on AutoVerus and VeruSAGE research benchmarked on 150 and 849 tasks
- First public demo on real code at GitHub Universe on October 28-29, 2026
