Ohio State researchers build a system that sends scents over Wi-Fi
Researchers at Ohio State University have developed a system pairing an AI-powered e-nose with a receiver called Scentronic that recreates odors. Scent data travels via Wi-Fi and a cloud server, and 16 testers correctly identified all five scents: cake, beer, red wine, coffee and oranges.
- Scentronic comes as a wristband, handheld unit and necklace
- A five-channel piezoelectric atomizer sprays the scents
- 16 testers correctly identified all five transmitted aromas
- Scent data is stored in the cloud for repeated use
