Wikipedia goes down for thousands of users worldwide

Wikipedia suffered an outage affecting users around the world, with Downdetector logging over 3,000 reports in the US and a growing number in the UK. The problems began around 10:51am ET / 3:51pm BST, and the cause is not yet known; Internet Archive and Asana also appeared to have issues.
