Microsoft previews dotnetup, a toolchain manager for .NET SDKs and runtimes

Microsoft has released a public preview of dotnetup, a cross-platform toolchain manager that installs, updates and removes .NET SDKs and runtimes in the user's account instead of a system directory. Modeled on rustup and nvm, it tracks channels like latest, lts or 10.0 rather than exact versions.

• dotnetup installs components under the user's local data directory, not Program Files\dotnet
• Supported channels include latest, lts, preview, daily and major or minor versions
• A single dotnetup update re-resolves every tracked channel
• Preview builds are not recommended for production; winget and apt packages are planned
