Oxygen collisions show evidence of quark-gluon plasma

The STAR experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider found strong evidence that colliding oxygen nuclei at near light speed produces quark-gluon plasma. Data published in Physical Review Letters show jets of particles losing energy as they traverse the hot, dense matter.
