FIDO Alliance counts 7 billion passkeys worldwide

The FIDO Alliance estimates that 7 billion passkeys are now in use worldwide and says the technology has gone mainstream. Its 2026 Passkey Index shows 90% of active accounts are eligible for passkeys, 42% of those have one enrolled, and more than a third of successful sign-ins use a passkey.
