Researchers map molecules with identical mass but different structures on surfaces
Scientists at NPL, with the University of Surrey, University of Oxford, the Francis Crick Institute and IONTOF GmbH, developed a technique to distinguish and map molecules that share the same chemical formula and mass but differ in structure and function. The research was published Oct. 19 in Nature Communications.
- The method distinguishes isomers with identical formula and mass
- The technique maps how molecules are distributed across a surface
- NPL, Surrey, Oxford, the Crick Institute and IONTOF took part
- Results appeared in Nature Communications on Oct. 19
