Non-noble-metal electrode cuts green hydrogen production costs
A KIER team led by Dr. Kyung-Soo Kang and Dr. Hyun-Jun Lee developed Ni/Co-based heterostructure electrodes for water electrolysis. The electrodes outperform conventional noble-metal ones and lower the cost of green hydrogen production.
- Nickel-cobalt heterostructure replaces noble metals in electrodes
- KIER design delivers higher electrolysis efficiency than analogues
- The breakthrough addresses a key green hydrogen bottleneck
