Simon Willison ships stateless LaTeX renderer that stores documents in the URL fragment
Simon Willison released a LaTeX renderer that keeps the entire document source in the URL fragment, gzip-compressed and base64-encoded, with no server or database. An llms.txt file documents the URL schema so AI agents can generate shareable links programmatically.
- Source is gzipped with Pako, base64-encoded and written to window.location.hash
- Rendering runs client-side via MathJax and faster-latex inside a sandboxed iframe
- llms.txt documents the URL schema so agents can build links without a backend
- URL length is capped around 2,000 characters for reliable cross-browser support
