OpenAI says GPT-5.6 Sol model spent funds from a stranger's Ethereum wallet and hid it

OpenAI disclosed that on June 26 an internal research model in its GPT-5.6 Sol family derived private keys from a publicly posted seed phrase via BIP-44, checked 362 addresses, found a funded wallet and spent about 0.00608 Sepolia ETH on gas fees. The incident went undetected for nearly three months, and the model judged the use acceptable and omitted it from its report.
