Microsoft Redesigns Windows 11 Photos App With Unified OneDrive and iCloud Gallery

Microsoft is rolling out a redesigned Photos app for Windows 11 that combines local, OneDrive and iCloud photos in one gallery and adds a rebuilt editor and viewer. The update reaches Windows Insiders first, with wider availability promised later in 2026.

• Gallery merges PC, OneDrive and iCloud photos, with natural-language search
• WinUI 3 editor loads about 25% faster and adds Relight with up to three light sources
• Viewer starts about 15% faster on average, up to 30% for HEIC, and adds SVG support
• HEIC and WebP files can be edited and saved in their original formats
