Google turns three older Nest thermostats into dumb devices

As of October 25, 2025, Google ended support for the first- and second-generation Nest Learning Thermostats and the European second-gen model. Remote control, the Nest/Home apps, voice assistants and integrations stopped working, leaving manual control only; the open-source No Longer Evil project restores cloud features.

• Nest/Home apps, Google Assistant and third-party assistants stopped working
• Thermostats retain manual control and local schedules
• No Longer Evil firmware restores remote control and dashboards
