Google automatically links your phone number to every account on Android

Google is linking phone numbers to every Google account signed in on an Android device by default, including work and alternate profiles. Users report surprise verification emails; the feature can be disabled in settings, though some say it re-enables itself.

• The feature covers all accounts on the device, including work and alternate profiles
• Disable via Settings > Google > All services > Phone number verification
• Some users report the setting turns itself back on after being disabled
• Turning it off does not remove existing number-to-account links
