3D model shows how shadows reshape chemistry in stellar nurseries
An international team led by Dr Brandt Gaches of the University of Duisburg-Essen built a high-resolution 3D model of stellar nurseries. The uneven cloud structure creates shadows that alter chemistry and affect infrared emission observed by the James Webb Space Telescope. The study was published in Astronomy & Astrophysics.
