BSI launches three AI assurance schemes covering biometrics, LLMs and risk management
The British Standards Institution (BSI) has launched three AI assessment schemes: conformity assessment for high-risk biometric AI under the EU AI Act, performance testing for LLM applications, and product-level AI risk management based on NIST AI RMF and ISO/IEC 23894. The biometric service runs as a pilot until BSI is designated as an AI Act Notified Body.
- Biometric scheme covers remote identification, categorization and emotion recognition under Annex III of the EU AI Act
- LLM testing measures answer correctness, factual consistency, contextual relevance and toxicity of applications
- Risk management assessment is based on NIST AI RMF and ISO/IEC 23894, awarding a certificate and BSI Mark of Trust
- 67% of business leaders would trust AI more with independent validation, but only 25% have a formal AI governance program
