PingpongDuo lets two humanoid robots play table tennis doubles
Researchers from the University of Hong Kong, Shanghai Innovation Institute, Archon Robotics and Nvidia built PingpongDuo, a framework for humanoid table tennis doubles. In simulation ball-return success improved 13.2%, and two Unitree G1 robots sustained more than 10 consecutive alternating strikes.
- Ball-return success in simulation improved 13.2% over the baseline
- Two Unitree G1 robots sustained over 10 consecutive alternating strikes
- A 2.15-meter clearance-and-recovery cycle took 2.4 seconds at 2.23 m/s peak
- Positioning error during clearance was about 2 centimeters
