TDK unveils Nivio-S xMR magnetic sensor that sees inside walls

At CEATEC 2026 TDK demonstrated Nivio-S xMR, a 10 × 10 × 26 mm magnetic sensor that detects extremely weak magnetic fields without magnetic shielding. A prototype portable scanner mapped rebar hidden inside a wall in real time, and a 9-axis sensor array tracked a moving object's position. The system can also detect copper, aluminum, water and air pockets; no commercial availability or pricing was announced.
