AmEx Releases Open Agentic Payment Standard That Blocks Rogue AI Purchases

American Express published an open technical specification for its Intent Intelligence Framework, which binds a purchase authorization to the merchant, budget ceiling and product specs, and verifies it cryptographically before an AI agent reaches checkout. The framework is available through AmEx's ACE Developer Toolkit and was announced at TechCrunch Disrupt 2026.
