Anthropic adds OpenTelemetry trace export to Claude Platform

Anthropic launched public beta OpenTelemetry trace export for the Claude Platform on October 14, 2026, letting developers send traces from Claude Managed Agents, the Messages API and Claude SDKs to any observability tool. Traces follow OpenTelemetry GenAI semantic conventions and carry latency, token counts and IDs.

• Public beta: traces from Managed Agents, Messages API and Claude SDKs go to any OTLP-compatible tool
• Metadata only is the default mode; Full content holds up to 0.75 MB per span
• API tracing requires Admin permission, SDK tracing needs no special permission
• Supported tools include Grafana Cloud, Datadog, Langfuse, Splunk, Honeycomb and Sentry
