Cedars-Sinai finds PD-L2 protein that hides 'zombie cells' from immunity
Cedars-Sinai researchers identified the protein PD-L2, which helps senescent 'zombie' cells evade the immune system and accumulate with age. Blocking PD-L2 in mice reduced senescent cells and inflammation and improved glucose handling and grip strength. PD-L2 is proposed as a therapy target and a potential blood marker.
