Gigabyte confirms support for future Intel CPUs on ageing DDR4 motherboards, including Z790
Gigabyte says all its Raptor Lake-era LGA1700 motherboards, including Z790, B760 and H610, will support a new lineup of future Intel processors via a BIOS update. The chips are likely the rumoured Raptor Lake Next range, arriving as DDR5 prices surge.
- Z790, B760 and H610 boards will support the new CPUs with a BIOS update only
- The lineup is expected to launch under the Core 200-series banner without Ultra
- Rumoured parts include a Core 5 with 6P+4E and a Core 7 with 8P+12E, no Core i9
- The move follows rising DDR5 prices pushing owners to keep DDR4 systems
