Docomo, Abside team on AI for HAPS communications
NTT Docomo and Abside Networks signed an MoU to develop AI-driven next-generation networks using high-altitude platform stations (HAPS). The partners will work on system architecture, network control and data use, including AI-based forecasting of demand, beams, capacity and spectrum at altitudes around 20km.
- MoU covers HAPS system architecture, network control and data utilisation
- AI will forecast demand and manage radio beams, capacity and interference
- HAPS operate at about 20km, covering mountains and maritime areas
- Abside brings experience from Google's Project Loon and NTN equipment
