Cambridge Heavy Industries unveils benchtop fusion reactor

Massachusetts-based startup Cambridge Heavy Industries emerged from stealth with a tabletop fusion device that uses two lasers to compress a fuel target, and raised a $6.2 million seed round led by Azolla Ventures. The compact module enables 50–80 experiments per day, and the company aims to build a power plant about the size of two basketball courts within a decade.
