Moody's: European datacenter boom may raise power bills by 2035
Moody's forecasts datacenters could consume 17% of Dutch electricity and 30% of Ireland's by 2035. Rising demand will require investment in generation and grids, potentially pushing up consumer prices and prompting government intervention.
- Datacenters used about 2.5% of electricity in major European markets in 2025
- By 2035 their share could reach 30% in Ireland and 17% in the Netherlands
